Upcoming Afrobeats Albums to Look Forward to

We’re already halfway through the year 2025! Six months in, and the Afrobeats wave doesn’t seem to be slowing down. This year, we’ve already gotten some phenomenal Afrobeats albums from stars like Davido and upcoming artists such as Qing Madi. But there’s so much more to come!

Afrobeats enthusiasts can expect more projects from Burna Boy, BNXN, and others. Let’s break them down for you.

Highly-Anticipated Afrobeats Albums Coming this Year

Burna Boy – No Weakness (Coming July 11,2025)

After a groundbreaking run with I Told Them…, Burna Boy is gearing up for his next sonic evolution with No Weakness. While details remain closely guarded, the album title suggests a project rooted in resilience and growth.

Expect Burna to blend his signature Afro-fusion sound with bold experimentation—possibly touching on themes of personal strength, African identity, and global recognition. If his past work is any indication, No Weakness could be another Grammy contender.

Some pre-released songs from the album include Bundle by Bundle, Sweet Love, and TaTaTa ft. Travis Scott.

Olamide – Olamide (Coming 11 June, 2025)

One of the most anticipated Afrobeats albums still coming this year is from the YBNL king, Olamide, who has hinted that this self-titled album may be his most personal yet. Known for consistently reinventing his sound, Olamide’s new project could be a reflection of his journey from the streets of Bariga to becoming a cultural icon.

Fans can anticipate his usual blend of street-hop, smooth melodies, and hard-hitting rap verses. So far, the only teaser we’ve gotten from this album is Kai ft. Wizkid.

BNXN – CAPTAIN (Coming 3 July, 2025)

The next project to make it our list of upcoming Afrobeats albums is Captain, by BNXN. Formerly known as Buju, BNXN has carved a niche for himself with smooth vocals and emotionally-rich songwriting.

CAPTAIN is expected to showcase a more confident, commanding version of the artist—perhaps reflecting on his role as a leader in the new school of Afrobeats. With teasers hinting at diverse collaborations and deeper lyricism, this album could mark BNXN’s full transformation from a feature favorite to a certified headliner.

Mayorkun – Still The Mayor (Coming 13 June, 2025)

Since his breakout with The Mayor of Lagos, Mayorkun has maintained his star power through consistency and versatility. Still The Mayor is both a declaration and a challenge—to remind fans why he remains a staple in Afrobeats.

Early previews suggest a return to his energetic roots, spiced with Amapiano influences and pop sensibilities. With a loyal fanbase and a knack for hit-making, Mayorkun seems ready to reclaim his crown with this release.

That brings us to the end of this short, yet exciting list of Afrobeats albums still to come in 2025. Of course, the list will certainly grow as time passes. There’s still so much more to come from more mainstream Afrobeats artists. Stay tuned to Soot Africa as we bring the latest details to you right here.

Until next time!
