Top Weekly Picks from Soot Africa

Looking for new songs to refresh your playlist? This is the place to be. Soot Africa is dedicated to bringing you the best of the best new songs out there. From Highlife to soul, music, or just plain old Afrobeats, we’ve got you! Without further ado, let’s head into our top weekly picks from Soot Africa.

Not an Angel – Tems

The Grammy award-winning singer Tems tops our list of top weekly picks from Soot Africa with a brand new single, Not an Angel. Following her recent worldwide fame, Tems has been burdened with the task of proving she deserves to be where she is today, and if anything, this song shows she has nothing to prove. She is certainly a star through and through.

Not an Angel reminisces about moving past a love that is long gone. Overall, it talks about cutting losses and leaving past relationships behind. If you’re one to appreciate meaningful and in-depth lyrics, you’ll love what Tem’s pen accomplished here.

W.O.M.S (Weight on my Shoulder) Libianca X Blaqbonez X Moliy

By merely seeing the lineup of artists on this song, I knew I would be in for a ride. The next song on top weekly picks from Soot Africa, Weight on my Shoulder, is a particularly sinfully pleasant fusion of harmonies from Libianca, Moliy, and Emeka himself, Blaqbonez.

This song chiefly employs a continuous stream of steady beats and background vocals to create a masterpiece. As expected, Blaqbonez particularly delivered a lyrically sound verse that brought it all together—10/10 song, in my opinion.

Terminator Remix – King Promise ft Tiwa Savage & Sean Paul

The next song on top weekly picks from Soot Africa is a remix of one of the biggest Afrobeats songs of 2023, King Promise’s Terminator. Even with an unlikely lineup of artists, this song still sounds every bit as good as the original (not better, though).

Different Pattern – Seyi Vibez

Another new song worth listening to is Different Pattern from Seyi Vibez’s new EP, NAHAMciaga. This song is certainly a beautiful infusion of Highlife and modern Afrobeats, which centers on a call-and-response chorus. While it celebrates Seyi Vibez’s luxurious lifestyle, it also draws listeners to focus less on the lyrics and more on the rhythm.

Yaweh – Seyi Shay

Thought Seyi Shay was done making music? Not even close. The next track on Soot Africa’s top weekly picks is certainly an ear teaser from Sey Shay, Yaweh. Overall, you’ll have no problem liking this song, as its repetitive chorus and hook are catchy enough to keep you playing it repeatedly.

As usual, we only had to pick five songs out of hundreds. Meanwhile, if this list isn’t enough tospice up your playlist, check out our New Music Friday picks, loaded with fresh new pieces weekly. Stay tuned to Soot Africa for your new music updates, and don’t go anywhere!
