Soot Africa’s Weekly Song Picks

Soot Africa weekly song picks

As you may know, the best part of our week is reviewing all the new Afrobeats releases and picking our top five songs. Well, it’s time for another edition of Soot Africa’s weekly song picks. In a bid to keep the fans happy, leading artists from all over Africa have released fresh new songs, enlarging their discography and giving us new trendy beats. While it’s always challenging, we have settled on our top weekly song picks. Here we go!

My Darling – Victony

Victony gave us two new songs this week, and they both made it to Soot Africa’s weekly song picks. Produced by Juls, My Darling employs a variation of what sounds like Highlife elements and steady-paced beats. It starts on a high and subsequently uses a catchy chorus to pull you in.

This will undoubtedly be a favorite among Victony fans. From the song’s midpoint towards its ending, we get to bask in Victony’s harmonies and enjoy how well it blends with the voices of his ever-present backup choristers. This song is a hit; you heard it here first.

My Own – Major AJ ft Blaqbonez

From the talented Afro-fusion artist Major AJ, My Own is the next song to make it to Soot Africa’s weekly song picks. Additionally, this song is nothing short of a vibe. It feels like Major AJ tries to tell a story, slowly building up to a beautiful chorus from the saxophone intro we get.

After Major AJ rounds up his verse and chorus, Blaqbonez swoops in with his ever-smooth rap verse; it works all too well. Unsurprisingly, Blaq went hard with his lines… “I’m the reason why your girl ain’t picking up that FaceTime; her face is on something else.” Oops, Touché.

Yawa – Fireboy DML

Released with an intriguing music video, Yawa is a song you will certainly have no trouble liking. Besides the catchy visuals, the piece uses log drums, whistles, and steady rhythms to give us music that sounds as good as the video looks. This Soot Africa’s weekly song pick shows Fireboy DML singing in a casual ambience, as the chorus is obviously delivered with a much welcomed light-hearted flair.

Sittin’ On Top Of The World – Burna Boy ft 21 Savage

Four days ago, the African Giant dropped this bop, a glaring deviation from his trope. Basically, the song’s beat is more 90s, early 2000s hip hop-inclined, and it is a surprise that Burna Boy was able to pull it off. Nonetheless, he featured 21 Savage on this new song, and they made it work. Of course, it sounded more like a 21 Savage song than a Burna Boy song, but hey, good music is good music, right?

Angelus – Victony

This Soot Africa weekly song pick is the second release Victony dropped this previous week. This song quickly made it to our list, as it’s an ear teaser. Victony starts with incredible vocals and follows through with hilarious lyrics and a rhythm only he can deliver so seamlessly. If you think the lyrics are funny, then you should totally check out the colorful visuals. Additionally, the song talks about Victony calling on all the heavens and Angelus to help him bag Rosey, the girl he is smitten with. Who said romance was dead?

Victony’s song marks the end of this week’s edition of Soot Africa weekly song picks. For some reason, I particularly enjoyed this week’s new releases. Above all, what was your favorite new song? I certainly hope it made it to the list. If it didn’t, let us know in our comment section!
