Soot Africa’s Top Weekly Picks

The African music industry keeps producing amazing talents and sounds, and last week’s new releases from Tiwa Savage, Amaarae, Chike, Adekunle Gold, Crayon, and other artists did not disappoint. It was challenging to select our favourites this week, but we’ve carefully chosen five songs that are sure to get you grooving. These new releases showcase the diversity and creativity of African music, from Afrobeats to Afropop.

At Soot Africa, we are passionate about African music and are excited to share our top weekly picks. Our selection process was based on the uniqueness and appeal of the songs, and we believe these five picks will be a hit with music lovers. Whether you’re a fan of upbeat dance tracks or soulful ballads, these new releases have something for everyone.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into Soot Africa’s top weekly picks for this week.

Reckless and sweet- Amaarae

Amaarae has always made music for the baddies (this is not gender restricted). “Repent! Fountain baby is coming” has been her campaign in anticipation of her new album, Fountain Baby. If you didn’t know, now you do. Amaarae’s new release, “Reckless & Sweet” reveals a more creative side of Amaarae as she explores a materialistic love expression and bravado on soft mid-tempo sounds. Like a reaffirmation of her stance on “Sad Girlz Luv Money”, she requests a call on her only when the money comes.

Spell Remix- Chike ft Oxlade

This song is one of my favorites off his most recent album, The Brother’s Keeper. Chike teams up with Oxlade to deliver even more beautiful vocals on the tambourine-laced instrumentals and soft bass on this song. They question how they have fallen so easily in love despite their resolve to never do so. Are you in love and don’t know how you’ve fallen so deeply? Does someone’s son or daughter have your heart in a chokehold? You should listen to this song because they have most likely cast a spell on you.

Stamina- Tiwa Savage ft Young Jonn & Ayra Starr

The queen of Afrobeats graces us with a new release, her first single this year, “Stamina”. She features Young Jonn and Ayra Starr, produced by Magicsticks. This song has a calm ambiance and chords, with the Amapiano log drums blazing softly to accompany the vocals delivered by these 3 top artists. It is only right this song is on our list this week. Do you need an Afrobeats song to mesmerize your partner and tell the many things you would like to do to them? Then this one is for you.

Party No Dey Stop- Adekunle Gold ft Zinoleesky

Play this song immediately after “Stamina” by Tiwa Savage, and thank me later. Adekunle Gold ate and Zinoleesky did not fall short of expectations on this track as they declare their mantra for a peaceful life while having fun as well. This party-themed jam will have you moving your body to the rhythm in no time. You’ll definitely have it on repeat.

One of a Kind- Jaido P ft Fireboy DML

Fireboy drops a beautiful hook on this song with Jaido P. The lyrics are centered on loving a stress-free life even when things don’t go as planned while having fun. Jaido P delivers his catchy flows as usual on this. This is the type of jam you play when having a late-night drive and reminiscing on life.

And that’s a wrap on this week’s top picks on Soot Africa. Don’t forget to stay updated on your latest music updates on our website and socials!
