Ego Oyibo – Chike
The mastermind behind Boo of The Booless, Chike, has given us yet another sweet love song we can all enjoy. The first song on Soot Africa’s top new song picks is Ego Oyibo. This song is an upbeat melody that sounds like something Nigerian DJs will play at every wedding they attend.
On this track, Chike serenades his lover, calls her Ego Oyibo, and begs her to return to him. I particularly love how he uses a double entendre to call his lover a popular pet name but also subtly accuses her of staying abroad too long.
Jayelo – Logos Olori
Davido’s newest signee, Logos Olori, recently made headlines owing to the visuals of the next track on Soot Africa’s top new song picks. Jayelo employs the steady cadences of a typical Afrobeats song while speaking on the numerous prayers and blessings that precede getting money.
While the song has a solid rhythm that appeals to most avid music lovers, the visuals didn’t quite sit well with the larger part of the Nigerian Muslim population. Their outrage may have caused Davido to take down the earlier posted visuals, but it doesn’t stop us from enjoying the song. I predict that this song will stay on the charts for a while.
Sharpally – Young Jonn
Once again, Young Jonn makes it to Soot Africa’s top new song picks. This time, it’s a single titled Sharpally. From the start, the song calls out to listeners with a soulful flute harmony that piques interest.
This song is certainly easy to enjoy and relate to. He liberally uses the recently coined term “On colo” to signify how his lover quite literally intoxicates him. Whether you’re a Young Jonn fan or not, you’ll have no trouble enjoying this particular track.
Belle Full – Crayon, Victony & KTIZO
From Crayon’s recently released album Trench to Triumph, the next track on Soot Africa’s top new song picks is titled Belle Full. From the jump, Victony opens the song with his ever-mesmerizing voice. Once you hear Victony’s verse, you can’t help but want to listen to the rest of the song.
Belle Full is another love song that tells a lover how much his/her love is enough. “Only your love wey go belle full me.”
Taliban II – Burna Boy X Byron Messia
To wrap up Soot Africa’s top new song picks, we picked this fresh Afro-fusion track titled Talibans II. In this song, the African Giant and the Jamaican Dancehall singer, Byron Messia go back and forth, playing with vocals and using familiar rhythms to create good music. Byron Messia certainly does not let The African Giant upstage him on his song but steps up to the task and delivers a verse worth listening to.
That brings us to the end of our new song picks. I hope you enjoy listening to every song that has been so carefully curated for you. Don’t forget to hit our comment section and let us know what your favorite pick was. While you’re there, follow our pages for all your new music updates.
