Soot Africa’s New Song Picks

What’s one thing that will never go out of style? Music. It’s constantly evolving, and with each day that passes, African artists show us that they are a force to reckon with in the industry. As always, Soot Africa has curated a list of top five newly released songs we think should be on your playlist. For this week, Soot Africa’s new song picks features artists like Chike, Young John, Wurld, Sarz, and much more. Let’s get right to it!

My Baby – Diamond Platnumz ft Chike

In an unexpected cross-country collaboration, the first song on Soot Africa’s new song picks is My Baby, where Diamond Platnumz features Chike. As you may have already guessed, this is a warm and sweet love song. It may just be me but it sounds like something I would play on my traditional wedding day.

Diamond Platnumz opens up the song with a slow, beautifully written chorus that depicts love, happiness, and sweet nothings, After the chorus, Chike comes in with an igbo verse that sits perfectly in the heart of the song. These two artists made magic on this collaboration and I bet the fans are looking forward to more, this writer included.

Feeling Funny – Lil Kesh X Young Jonn

This next song is a pre-released song off Lil Kesh’s upcoming EP, Rhythm and Tunes. On this Soot Africa’s pick, Lil Kesh delivers a fast-paced verse you’ll have no trouble liking. His sound works quite well with Young Jonn’s, and they gave the fans yet another good song to vibe to. Additionally, the tail end of the song features subtle Amapiano infusions that add a little kick to the song. Overall, this song is a good listen that comes highly recommended.

Bad – Ninho X Omah Lay

From Ninho’s recently released album, Bad features Omah Lay in a slow, almost sensual song. If you’re like me, you may not totally understand what the French rapper says in his verse, but you can be sure it teases subtle, sensual, lyrics. As a testament to our love for diversity, picking this as one of the songs for Soot Africa’s new song picks was certainly a no brainer.

On the other hand, Omah Lay also sings his heart out in a well written verse. However, in a stark contrast to Ninho’s verse, Omah Lay’s verse leans more towards grinding and chasing the bag.

Location – Wurld X Sarz

Ah, who doesn’t love a good Wurld and Sarz collaboration? The next rendition on Soot Africa’s new song picks is Location, by Wurld and Sarz, two artists who never fail to bring the heat whenever they hit the studio.

As expected, Sarz drops a rather contagious beat in the first few seconds of the song, letting the listeners sit in the rythm and prepare for what’s to come. Wurld does not disappoint, but delivers a fine and catchy verse. Once again, Wurld and Sarz have done what they know how to do best- make good music.

Bezos – Blaqbonez

Finally, the last one on Soot Africa’s new song picks is Bezos by Blaqbonez. This is yet another week where a Blaqbonez song has made it to our weekly picks. It’s not without good reason though. When it comes to releasing good music, Blaqbonez certainly has a good handle on it.

Bezos talks about getting the money needed to entrap a certain lover. As usual, Blaqbonez subsequently uses funny lyrics to talk about real life issues. “Today no fit be tomorrow. Give me one year, I go be like Bezos.”

And just like that, Soot Africa’s new song picks comes to an end. These are just our favorite songs though. If you have any favorite, newly released songs that you think should’ve been on our list, hit our comment section and let us know!
