Soot Africa’s New Song Picks

Where are the lovers of good music? It’s another time to revel in beautiful African sounds as we refresh our playlists. As usual, Soot Africa is here to bring new song picks we absolutely think should be in your playlist. We’ve got you covered, from hit song remixes to soul music to conventional Afrobeats songs. Sit tight, we unravel this week’s list of Soot Africa’s new song picks.

Only God can Save Me – Joeboy

The first track on Soot Africa’s new song picks is Only God Can Save Me, by Joeboy. As the first song on his new E.P. Body, Soul, & Spirit, this song offers a fresh perspective on Joeboy’s intriguing vocal abilities.

The beat draws you in, and Joeboy keeps you hooked with long, finely-tuned drawls. Let’s do less talking and more listening. Here’s Only God Can Save Me by Joeboy:

Devil Dance – Teni ft Odumodublvck

While some refer to Teni’s sophomore album, Tears of The Sun, as a symbol of her exit from the closet, I refer to it as a refined expression of self. The next pick on Soot Africa’s new song picks is Devil Dance, the 12th track on Tears of the Sun, where Teni features Odumodublvk.

This song is not what you’d expect it to be. Instead of employing conventional Afrobeats infusions, it goes heavy on Afropop instrumentals. Teni and Odumodublvck deliver an interesting vocal collaboration with this fresh twist. Take a look:

New Song Picks: Water Remix – Tyla X Travis Scott

Next on Soot Africa’s new song picks is no other song but the track that broke the internet. South Africa’s Tyla made her big break into a wider music audience with the release of her hit song, Water, and it has been nothing short of a thrilling ride for her.

While we expected a remix, we certainly didn’t see a Tyla and Travis Scott collaboration on the way. As with most hit songs, you might still prefer the original. However, the remix is equally worth the listen.

Lonely at The Top – Asake X H.E.R

Scratch what was said in the previous paragraph. This is the only collaboration we didn’t see coming. If you predicted an Asake and H.ER collab, then we have a beach house in Sokoto we can sell to you.

In the most unusual turn of music events, Asake teams up with H.E.R. on the next track on Soot Africa’s new song picks: Lonely at The Top Remix. Shots from the B.T.S. only prove they had undeniable chemistry on this song. And, well, they managed to make a good song even better. Take a look:

New Song Picks: Fakosi – Reekado Banks

The final song to wrap up Soot Africa’s new song picks is Fakosi, by Reekado Banks. Although we haven’t been getting steady music from “Reeky baby”, he still reminds us that he’s in the business of making music. Fakosi adopts a unique twist on modern Highlife instrumentals and delivers a pleasant song altogether. Listen:
