Soot Africa Top Weekly Picks

January ends in a few hours and despite being the first month of the year, there’s been a couple of beautiful releases to kickstart the year with. The country’s situation might be overwhelming but it’s a good thing our music quality is topnotch amidst all. We have once again selected our top weekly picks for your listening pleasure and to update your listening playlist.

Emotional Oranges & Nonso Amadi- Simple Things

The iconic duo, Emotional Oranges team up with Nonso Amadi on their latest EP titled Blended. Simple things, my favorite off the project speaks about an estranged love yet strong emotions still exist. Nonso, quite bent on making it work despite the obvious option of letting go, vows to risk it all not caring about the distance. If you are reading this and have given up on a relatioship that could have worked out, this is your cue to fight for your love.

Jeriq, Psycho YP & Phyno- Breaking News

Jeriq, one of my favorite indigenous rappers currently. He delivers his flows so well that even if you don’t understand his language, you will still feel connected. He links up with Phyno and YP on “Breaking News”. This is a party starter jam right there.

Timi Dakolo ft Patoranking- Na So E Be

Timi Dakolo and Patoranking share their perspectives of life drenched in the wisdom of experiences and reality. Na so e be talks about living a fulfilled life by being aware of the realities out there and living that truth. Do your best and leave the rest while watching out for snakes and backstabbers. Na so e be for inside life, you just need to be careful while also striving for your success.

Candy Bleakz ft Simi- Wale Remix

Simi delivers a beautiful verse on Candy Bleakz’ Wale. A song about hustling and bustling, and the need to make one’s family happy. Candy stresses on how her mother beckons on her to come home (wale) but the hustle has to go on to make ends meet. This is the reality of many young ones out there lately

Toby Grey- Manifest (My prayer)

To finish off our selection for this week’s top songs, it’s only right you motivate yourself with this new single from UK-based Nigerian singer, Toby Grey. She requests for blessings and peace of mind in all she does. The track is a manifestation of all the good things she desires, you should proclaim some as well.
