Enjoy this week’s top picks below!

If They Are Real- Vector & Bella Shmurda

Vector teams up with Bella Shmurda on this mid-tempo song talking about real people. Vector speaks his mind and appreciates the real ones in his life, who have always been there for him. Bella bares his mind on this track as well as he expresses his desire to just live and not engage in any negative activities that’ll endanger his life. His line- “In the time of Mary Slessor, them no fit slice us…” will make you clutch your chest and almost scream, “I hear you, philosopher Bella”.

January 9th- Black Sherif

Black Sherif releases this on his birthday January 9th. Black expresses gratitude on his journey so far, he highlights his hardships, challenges and trying times. It’s quite obvious he has undergone quite a significant growth process as he sings on the chorus “I’m not complaining there’s a lot on my shoulders, I dey tell you I’m alright. Everything’s under control.” It’s an introspective track and by now you should know that Black Sherif expresses his innermost feelings on his tracks quite well.

Say My Name- Darkua

Darkua launches the year with “Say my name”, a track dedicated to the exit of a romantic affiliation from her life. She called out their excesses and wrong doings while stating the need to move on. She affirms that she will be fine and do better without them. Darkua delivers beautiful vocals everytime and “Say my Name” is like candy even though it’s a song about letting go.

Holy Water- Victor AD

Victor AD sings about his challenges and how life’s treating him lately. The responsibilities he has to carry and mouths he has to feed while moving from place to place to make ends meet. It’s quite a rollercoaster of emotions out there as of late. The inflation, insecurity and overall situation of the country is enough to make a man worry this much.

Only Me- Asake

Mr Money with the vibes celebrated his birthday with this new release on 12th January. He appreciates those who shower him love as he brags about paying his dues. Finally, Asake is debt-free (inside joke, shhhh). If this new sonic pattern is what we would be getting from Mr Money this year, ladies and gentlemen, we might also be witnessing a shift in his music style. Really looking forward to hearing what he has in store for his audience this year.

We hope you enjoy this edition of Soot weekly picks. More to come as the year goes on. Stay tuned!
