Soot Africa Top Weekly Picks

It’s a new week and a fresh influx of new music from the Nigerian music scene. This week’s picks are nothing short of the quality we have been bringing to your attention these past weeks. We witnessed new releases from Wande Coal, YKB, TDB, Joeboy, Oxlade and many more.

Below is our carefully selected SOOT weekly top picks for this week.

Soso remix- Omah Lay ft Ozuna

Omah Lay got his fans dancing to a song about pain and struggles. He cries out to “Soso” to take his pain away. “Soso” was one of the lead singles off his album Boy Alone. The singer bares his heart and pain on bouncy beats. Make a show of hands here if you also danced to this song without checking the lyrical depth at first. For the remix of this hit song off his project, Omah Lay teams up with Puerto Rican super star, Ozuna on the remix of Soso. Enjoy!

Normally- Joeboy ft Bnxn and Odumodu Blvck

I have played this song more than two hundred times since Joeboy released his latest project, Body and Soul. There is always that one song on Joeboy’s projects that I just can’t skip past. On SBBM, it was “Police”. “Normally features heavy weight lyrical king, BNXN fka Buju and Odumodu Blvck. This track about gratitude and grace opens the project and sets the mood and pace for what to expect in the rest of the project. My favorite verse is BNXN’s. You should also check out “Wetin be Love” ft Ckay off the Body and Soul project.

Talking Stage- TDB

TDB’s new project Love in the Trenches is a cohesive body of work bearing testimony to the fact that you can still find love in the “trenches”. The project features tracks speaking on relatable experiences and events in the dating pool today. “Talking stage” is one of those songs that explains the love cycle from the spark to the quench. TDB questions the turnout of things how he and his lover went from a blossoming love connection to mere contacts on each other’s phone. A truly relatable experience. You should listen to this project today!

YKB- Traffic

I was contemplating between choosing this track or “Pressure” off Yusful Music for this review. YKB is back with a fire project and trust me, this is a must-listen. The Afrobeats Singer is popularly known for his play on words and creative content. “Traffic” is no exception to his creative abilities. It’s a perfect song to play when sitting in Lagos traffic while you are running late for an appointment. When you get to the venue, you can just play the hook for whoever you were late to see- Thank me later.

Wande Coal ft Wizkid- Ebelebe

Wande Coal returns with a project, Legend or No Legend. He teams up with Wizkid on the track “Ebelebe”. They both exercise their melodic prowess on the mid-tempo production appreciating the beauty of their partner’s body while they both express braggadocious intents alongside. The project has been doing great since its release but personally, I have quite several reservations about it.

And it’s a wrap on our weekly top picks. Stay glued to Soot Africa for more weekly updates across all platforms.
