Music Business For Africa 2022 Returns from a short break, Module 3 is now on

The Music Business Academy for Africa 2022 went on a short break for a week and resumed Module 3 on the 6th of August 2022. Module 2, which ended on the 24th of July, was quite a revelation for the students. They learned about how diverse the music industry is. You want to know more about what was learned in Module 2, don’t you? You can Read it here. Let’s take a look at how the third module is going so far.

MODULE 3 PROGRESS

Module 3 of the MBA For Africa 2022 program began on the 6th of August. This module is about management and A&R/music development.

This module is in partnership with the Music Managers Forum, UK. Two classes in this module have been held so far. Indeed, it has been a smooth sail on the ocean of knowledge.

Below are the classes in this Module as well as some of the faculty guests so far:

CLASS 1: Artist Management: Lauren Roth de Wolf, Management For Africa Express, Moonchild Sanelly, and more. Stephanie Adamu, Marketing and Communications Manager. Phil Nelson, Artiste Manager & Music Business Educator.

CLASS 2: Role of Managers and A&Rs in Talent Development: Obinna Agwu, A&R, Artiste Manager. Jacqueline Pelham-Leigh, A&R Consultant. Chioma Okoro, Head of A&R, MBA for Africa.

CLASS 3: Talent Discovery, Assessment, and Development.

CLASS 4: Artistic Identity and Establishing a core audience for Talent

To begin with, the first class on artist management highlights the important roles artist managers play in the music industry. The relationship managers are to have with their artists and the various capacities in which they should operate were not left out. Such as how the manager identifies or creates opportunities to market the career of the artiste; This is the core of the role of a manager aside from the other roles that come with time.

However, the second class expands on the role of managers and A&Rs in the discovery and development of talents. This class discusses factors that can contribute to the success of the artist and the collective efforts involved as a team in ensuring the growth of talent. A strong team mindset is the basis of any successful management team.

We anticipate more insightful classes as the module proceeds and more faculty guests join the program to impart more knowledge to the students.
