class highlights
The first class in module four is about copyrights, a very important discourse in the music industry. The copyright laws aim to protect the creators of the original music and give them the exclusive right to use and monetize their work. The laws, importance, and steps involved in ensuring copyright protection are broadly discussed in this class. Copyright, however, is the bedrock of the music industry and is to be taken seriously.
Furthermore, the second and third classes dealt extensively with various forms of contracts in the industry. Management and label contracts were examined as well as endorsements, partnerships, and sponsorships. One important lesson from this class is that always involve a lawyer when it comes to contracts and agreements. Also, you must examine and evaluate any contract because it can either make or mar your future in the industry.
In conclusion, the module ends with the class on the importance of IP Valuation. Intellectual Property valuation is essential to every creative. These include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and registered designs. Also, Iredumare examined the importance of IP valuation and broke down the challenges of IP valuation in Africa. In conclusion, the class exposes the challenges of the publishing industry in Africa in regard to IP valuation.
