From the Mo’Hits to the Mavin era, these two amazing music labels have had rather interesting journeys in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin is currently one of the most recognized labels in Nigeria and was birthed right after the dissolution of Mo’Hits. Both labels have given us iconic music that has set trends and broken records in the industry. So we’ll look at a brief overview of the most astounding songs and albums both record labels have given us over the years.
History of Mo’Hits & Mavin
Music industry veteran Don Jazzy founded Mo’Hits in 2006 with its co-owner and first recording artist to be signed as D’banj. Before long, the label signed other artists like Wande Coal, D’Prince, K Switch, and Dr SID as well. The label thrived for a good number of years before it went defunct in 2012.
On the other hand, Mavin was founded in that same year 2012 in what seemed to be a continuation of Mo’Hits. But it was really just another music label that would turn out to be as wildly successful as Mo’Hits was in its prime, maybe even more successful. It rolled over some artists from Mo’Hits like Dr SID and D’Prince before signing other artists like Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, and others who came and went as the brand grew.
