“The album is a statement that no matter what’s happening around you, you’re making it through, conquering and achieving great things.”
The Guy fka MI_Abaga
Legendary Nigerian rapper, MI Abaga, has released his new album, The Guy, today, August 19th, 2022. His fans have been looking forward to this project for a long time. (I am tempted to add haters lol). This project is his 7th solo studio album and is already topping charts in Nigeria as I write this.
The 40-year-old multiple award-winning rapper released two songs from this project earlier this year. Daddy ft. Chillz was released in March, while the album opener, The Guy, was released on the 22nd of July, 2022.
However, The Guy happens to be the rapper’s new stage name. He announced on his socials prior to the release of this album that he would be retiring his widely known stage name, Mr. Incredible Abaga. This new phase is definitely one his fans have been anticipating.
The Guy- Tracklist
The lineup on this new album got fans wowed and got everyone asking, “What’s he up to?” ” What should we expect from the self-acclaimed Mbappe of the rap game?”
“I think this phase is about trying to do impossible things with sheer audacity. It’s that ease with yourself—that freedom to just be and express yourself freely. That’s the energy.”-MI shares as he discusses the album with Apple Music.
The project features top rappers Olamide, Phyno, and also the legendary American rapper, Nas, not leaving out his brother Jesse Jagz and also Ice Prince. It also features fast-rising singer, BNXN, and sensational vocalists, Ossi Grace, and Tomi Owo. Wande Coal, Lord Vino, the Cavemen, and Duncan Mighty also delivered heavily on this project.
I guess you can only find out when you listen. Check out the tracklist below
“The album is a statement that no matter what’s happening around you, you’re making it through, conquering and achieving great things,” he says.
