MBA for Africa Talent Project 2022: Giving Unsigned Artists a Voice

One of the most exciting parts of the MBA for Africa program is here, the Talent Project. The MBA Talent project 2022 is geared toward giving an opportunity to artists from all over Africa to showcase their talent. It is beneficial for both parties of the program: the students in the simulated record labels, who will gain hands-on experience; and the artists who will sign up to potentially be chosen. For this year’s edition, The MBA has teamed up with The Orchard to provide even better opportunities than ever before.

  • You are from one of the following six African countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, and Uganda.
  • You are unsigned, unknown, and have no affiliations with any record label, talent management agency, or music distribution agency.
  • You have a song you can submit during the registration process.
  • You are between the ages of 17 and 30.

Now that you have ticked all the boxes, all you have to do is go to https://mbatalentproject.com/ and sign up. It’ll take a maximum of five minutes. Of all who register, the top 30 will be selected by MBA’s A&R team, and then the general public will have the chance to vote for their top 15 artists through the Talent Project website. The final round of voting will be done by the students of the Music Business Academy for Africa, after which seven final artists will be selected.

What You Stand to Get from The MBA Talent Project 2022

All seven artists will have the opportunity to create an EP together, set to be released in December 2022. This year, The MBA for Africa, in partnership with The Orchard provides a whopping $120,000 sponsorship deal to the finalists of the Talent Project.

This covers the financing and development of the artist from song creation to release. It also covers the marketing and promotion of the artist and the EP.

Interested artists have until the 22nd of August to register. Take this opportunity now, and share your art with the rest of the world.

The Music Business Academy for Africa 2022 is in partnership with Creative Industries Initiative for Africa & Music Ally. The academy is officially sponsored by YouTube Music.
