Hailing from Fobur, Jos East, Nigeria, Eric Limani’s musical journey was initially influenced by RnB. However, his career took a transformative turn when he discovered the Folk genre. Discovering the Folk genre sparked a significant shift in Limani’s career, leading him to embrace it as the defining direction for his musical path.
Eric Limani is a member of the collaborative collective called Soulfolknchill, which is based in Jos. Rather than being a formal group, they are three independent artists who have joined forces to collaborate. Alongside Eric Limani, Soulfolknchill includes Agbuntun and Doug Kazé as its members.
The EP delves into various themes such as life and birth, love and uncertainty. It also beautifully explores the enchantment of sleep, imagination, and dreams.

Envoi Vates
The EP starts with a moving narration by spoken word artist Envoi Vates. Accompanied by gentle Rhodes piano chords, percussion, and strings, he tells a story about the creation of human life and the meaning of our existence. The “Intro” sets the project’s mood, exploring our purpose, dreams, and aspirations. It also portrays the journey of navigating through life, experiencing both good and bad times. It touches on themes of mourning, joy, peace, chaos, wins and losses.
Seamlessly progressing on the “Intro” instrumentals, Eric Limani beautifully narrates a story. A tale of several alternate realities on the lead track off the EP- “Traveller”. He stresses that everyone is searching for something. The reality of our existence- The quest for discovery, a journey to our aspirations. With his soulful backup, he posits in a melodic philosophy. “We are travellers on Earth, we are all going somewhere, we are searching for something.”

“Unnoticed” is a cry for help. A lonely voice lost in the desert, waiting for a savior to quench his thirst, to pull him out of the sea fast drowning him- Life. The reality check is the relatability of this track in our daily life. Many drown themselves in the pool of their own tears daily. They long to be heard, seen and acknowledged in their life’s journey. It could get lonely sometimes and Limani emphasizes on the importance of friendships as he delivers beautifully accompanied with strings and piano.
Further journeying through Traveller, Eric Limani transports you to an imaginary home in a rural setting on “Fortune”. Laying in a moon-lit bedroom with eyes gazing at the stars through the window. Kids giggling and chattering as they listen to tales by the moonlight from the Elder who sits underneath the Iroko tree just a few metres away from your room window. You begin to drift into a soft sleep while the violin on this track induces REM (Rapid eye movement) as you journey through the dark which Limani describes as the safety cover while we sleep. A journey to Fortune through uncertainties, wins and losses- a conglomeration of life’s realities.
Closing the EP with a love-themed track, “Angels Amongst Men”. He describes his angel as his saviour, the one who found him when he was losing it. Life happens and sometimes we lose track of our destination, lost in transit of the bustles of Life hoping for a saving grace. Love is this angel amongst men for some, clarity in dreams or others, seeking faith in a supreme being for some and many more. What exactly is Eric Limani’s Angel? who is his dame in shining armor? The journey continues…
