African music is finally getting the recognition it deserves and we couldn’t be happier. If you missed all the Grammy action, not to worry! Soot African is here to give you all the highlights from the eventful night. Let’s get started!
Burna Boy – Four Nominations, Zero Wins
Unfortunately, the African Giant wasn’t the star of the night of the Grammys 2024. He won zero awards from his four nominations for Best Global Music Album, African Music Performance, Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Global Music Performance. Regardless, he still delivered an electric performance on the Grammys stage. Take a look.

Davido – Three Grammy Nominations, Zero Wins
Davido’s 2024 Grammys nominations were a long time coming. For the first time in his career, Davido secured not one but three Grammy nominations for Best Global Music Album, African Music Performance, and Best Global Music Performance. As a first-time nominee, here’s what he had to say:
Tyla at The 2024 Grammys – One Nomination, One Win
From performing her hit song, Water on global stages to winning a Grammy for the best African music performance, Tyla certainly shone at the 2024 Grammys. As a first-time nominee, Tyla’s win was unexpected but well-received among Africans. Accordingly, a win for one is a win for all. (Shhhhh, don’t tell the South Africans I said that).
Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide Also Secured Nominations at The 2024 Grammys
Mini-skirt sensation Ayra Starr was nominated for her global hit, Rush. Although the song took her global audience by storm, it failed to secure a Grammy award. Regardless, the nomination was a win for the young star.
On the other hand, Asake and Olamide received a 2024 Grammys nomination for their global hit, Amapiano. A few years ago, these Grammy nominations would’ve been unheard of. Now, African music is undeniably taking the world by storm.
