Afrobeats giant Davido is back, and he’s bringing the heat with his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive. Set for release on March 14, 2025, the project follows the massive success of 2023’s Timeless. According to the Afrobeats singer, it promises to be his “best album to date.”
If you thought Timeless was a masterpiece, 5ive is about to take things to another level. Davido is known for his ability to blend cultures and sounds effortlessly, and this album is no different. He’s teaming up with some incredible artists. These artists include YG Marley, Odumodublvck, and Chike, to deliver a global sound deeply rooted in African pride.
Leading up to the album’s release, Davido has already treated fans to two standout singles. They include Awuke (with YG Marley) and Funds (featuring Odumodublvck and Chike).
Davido’s latest single, Funds samples the late Brenda Fassie’s 1997 classic Vuli Ndlela, a track that pays homage to resilience and triumph across Africa. Davido describes Funds as a tribute to “the mindset, the struggle, and the rewards that come with staying true to your grind.”
Fans got an exclusive first listen when Davido performed Funds live at his birthday concert at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena in November 2024. Born in Atlanta and chiefly raised between Nigeria and the U.S., Davido continues to showcase his ability to bridge cultures through music.
