Soot Africa's weekly picks

Soot Africa’s Weekly Picks

We’re back at it again with another edition of Soot Africa’s favorite songs of the week. We’ve had some really interesting releases this week, but as always, there’s always a top five for us. Let’s see if your favorite songs made it to our weekly picks this time or not.

Declan Rice – Odomodublvck [Editor’s Pick]

It should come as no surprise that this made our weekly picks list. Declan Rice took over the internet the moment it was released a couple of days ago. Odomodu made his comeback with Declan Rice and he certainly made sure it was a good one. So good that the actual Declan Rice, West Ham midfielder commented on the song.

According to Soot Africa’s editor, “ Odomodu’s Declan Rice is basically a track that showcases his unique style and fearless delivery. He has carved a niche for himself and this song solidifies that clearly. Also, the song is mad catchy and I’ve had it on repeat for days now.”

No Doubt – Wani & Odunsi (The Engine) [Jeremiah’s Pick]

On a different note and tone from Declan Rice, No Doubt surprisingly takes us on a cute love journey that shows us a lover questioning words, texts, and all the whatnots that come along with love as we know it. This weekly pick is a slow, smooth, and easy tune that ends almost way too soon.

According to Jeremiah, “This is a boppy tune that leaves you wanting more, especially the hook by Wani. Additionally, the song reminds me of Odunsi’ “Farabale” featuring Dami Oniru. It also has elements of Odunsi’s “Desire”. This song leaves you with no choice but to play it over and over again. Wani certainly snapped on this one, I must say.

You Go Know – Ajebo Hustlers

Now for my picks. You know I’m a sucker for a good Ajebo Hustlers song. Well, this song definitely didn’t disappoint. You Go Know is chiefly a mid-tempo and laid-back song with whistles, bass drums, and trumpet infusions in the background. I particularly liked this pick because of its straight, almost rude lyrics but chill melody. Like someone threatening you with a smile on his face.

If you no use your head, them go use am drink garri o… Oh, You no know? Now you go know. In case you never know, na today you go know.”

Aladdin – E’Major ft Peruzzi

I dare you to listen to the first 15 seconds of this song and tell me you didn’t catch a vibe immediately. On Aladdin, E’Major starts out with a flawless delivery that compliments the soft drums and subtle trumpets. This weekly pick gets you from the onset, takes you on a gbedu journey, and leaves you wanting more.

In the second verse, Peruzzi definitely came in clutch with a classic Peruzzi delivery. It was good, catchy, and on brand with the general theme of the entire song- A woman who has successfully wooed her man and turned him into Aladdin.

Colors – Magixx

I think ever since Magixx hit the music scene, he has been actively trying to get everyone who listens to his music to fall in love one way or another. I listened to this song and suddenly wanted to get married haha. Colors is a sweet sweet song with love-struck lyrics and themes of undying love.

Produced by one of my faves Andre Vibez, the song’s steady tempo feels like a cool glass of water on a rather hot afternoon- refreshing.

Give me a chance to your heart make I log in… I go do anything for my baby o.”

And that’s it from us at Soot Africa. Hope your favorite release made it to our Top weekly picks. If it didn’t let us know in the comment section!
