Headies 2025 Red carpet

The Headies nominees for the 17th edition of the show have been announced, with Ayra Starr leading the pack with an impressive eight nods. Her nominations span multiple categories, including Best Recording of the Year, Best Female Vocal Performance, and Best R&B Single, among others.

Trailing closely behind her are REMA with seven nominations and Tems with six. The Headies Awards, which honor excellence in Nigerian and African music, cover the eligibility period from April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

This year’s edition features over 31 categories, with the introduction of two new ones: ‘Soundtrack of the Year’ and ‘Best Performer Live.’ The ‘Soundtrack of the Year’ category acknowledges a song originally composed for a film or series, while ‘Best Performer Live’ celebrates an artist’s most outstanding live performance as documented in an officially released video.
